Balaton catamaran

Construction of the ship started in 2021 at the Komárom shipyard in Slovakia and was delivered to Lake Balaton in the summer of 2023, after the new vessels started to be transported on the Danube thanks to favourable water levels. After final assembly, it was taken into the ownership and operation of BAHART at the beginning of 2024.

It takes its name from the "Hungarian sea", Lake Balaton.

11 metres wide and 35 metres long, the catamaran can carry 350 passengers at a time between the coasts. It can also carry an additional 35 bicycles, which significantly exceeds the capacity of the current vessels. Unique in Central Europe, it is equipped with engines that meet the latest environmental standards. Its construction is characterised by modern design and use of materials. The Balaton catamaran is a unique prototype vessel designed for Lake Balaton. It has a multifunctional interior and a huge open upper deck.
