Szántód ferry

Construction of the ship started in 2021 at the Komárom shipyard in Slovakia, and it was delivered to Lake Balaton in the summer of 2023. After final assembly, it was taken into the ownership and operation of BAHART in 2024.

It was named after Szántód, one of the most important settlements of the Balaton ferry traffic (Tihany, Szántód). It is the largest vessel in the Balaton fleet with the largest vehicle capacity to date.

The new ferry, 45 metres long and 11.4 metres wide, can carry up to 24 vehicles, 30 bicycles and 120 passengers at a time. It is unique in Central Europe and is equipped with engines that meet the latest environmental standards. The total height of the ferry is 16.46 metres. It has a panoramic upper deck. The Szántód ferry is a unique prototype vessel designed for Lake Balaton. Its construction is characterised by a modern design and use of materials. 4 engines, 4 propellers with Kort rings help the ferry to operate.

It is also an ideal venue for individual events: it can be a show venue or a venue for concerts, individual programmes and sporting events. Its deck is partially covered.

Capacity: 500 people
