Date / place of construction: The ferry called „Széchenyi István” was built in 1968 in the MHD Balatonfüred Factory Unit in Balatonfüred in Hungary.

In 1988, it was extended at the Balatonfüred Shipyard, inserted in the middle, and the superstructure was removed from one side. The wheelhouse, previously on a bridge in the middle of the ship was removed and was placed on the side of the ship on the superstructure.

In 2007, larger diameter Voith-Schneider propellers were installed and the SKL engines were replaced by Cummins engines.
